Unimatic x l'Eroica: Limited Edition
Unimatic for L’Eroica is a limited edition timepiece that celebrates 25 years of the world's most beautiful and exciting cycling event. Born in Gaiole in Chianti in 1997, thanks to the passion of 92 cycling enthusiasts, L'Eroica is a special event, that combines challenging routes, evocative landscapes and unforgettable food and drinks served at the rest stops. With a look at the past, L’Eroica lets you rediscover “la bellezza della fatica e il gusto dell’impresa” (the beauty of fatigue and the thrill of the conquest).
Modello Uno ref. U1-ER is a limited edition of 300 pieces, that has a 40 mm diameter steel case that is waterproof up to 30 atm = 300 m = 1000 feet. The degradé "red and black L’Eroica" dial, with the logo with the characteristic lettering, reproduced at 12 o'clock, features luminescent indexes in Super-LumiNova® C1. Time is displayed thanks to the matching phantom ladder hands set and the reverse lollipop second hand with a luminescent tip. The double-domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal provides the best performance in every light condition. The watch, marked with the words "made in Italy", is equipped with an elegant black perforated calfskin strap, reminiscent of vintage-inspired cycling shoes. Included in the package we also find an additional Sand nylon nato strap. Timing accuracy is guaranteed by the Seiko NH35A calibre automatic movement, with an operating frequency of 21,600 vibrations/hour and a power reserve of 41 hours. The caseback features the engraving of the logo evocative of the 25th anniversary of L’Eroica and the individual progressive serial number. The watch is covered by a 24-month international warranty.
On October 1st and 2nd, during this non-competitive sporting event, over 9500 fans will crowd the white streets of Tuscany, to renew a commitment to themselves and the desire to share a unique moment. For a quarter of a century, cyclists have been enjoying themselves by choosing strictly vintage bikes and clothing, wearing heavy wool sweaters and carrying inner tubes, for emergency replacement in the event of a puncture. Time becomes a way to experience the magic on two wheels together, without chronometric comparisons in deliberately missing ranking… whoever crosses the finish line wins. A moment of authentic spectacle has been replicated in numerous travelling events, with L'Eroica and Nova Eroica (reserved for a younger audience) which find their ideal location in the Dolomites and Chianti, but also in California, Japan and South Africa.
