Doxa Army: the return of an icon

After the presentation of the DOXA Army in ceramic last April, a limited edition watch of only 100 pieces, Dox presents the Army model in steel, a model declined with two versions of bezel, for the first time in bronze with a hunter ceramic insert. green, or in steel with black ceramic insert.

50 years after the birth of the DOXA Army, the brand celebrates its history with the Swiss Army's elite underwater unit by reissuing for the first time this famous model, which has become cult and immediately recognizable.

In the 1960s, in the period of the space race, while the whole world turns its gaze to the stars, another universe, closer but equally mysterious invites us to be explored: the sea.
In 1964, Urs Eschle, head of DOXA watch development, realized that the time had come to invest in diving watches that had already existed for a decade but were prohibitively expensive. He therefore decided to develop and create a reliable and accessible watch and that is why the SUB 300 was born in 1967, the first 100% professional diving watch accessible to a wider audience.
In 1966, when the Swiss Army began forming units of professional military divers trained to be elite troops, it decided to choose DOXA as a "companion" for the missions. In 1968, therefore, around 150 examples of the SUB 300T Professional accompanied the divers of the Swiss Army, called Army, a special model recognizable by its black case, a diving bezel with a black insert and a sand beige square.

Today, more than 50 years after its inception, DOXA pays homage to that historical period with a re-edition of the Army model in steel with an unrestricted version, with a sand-colored dial, a bronze or steel bezel for the first time and a ceramic insert. , respectively hunter green or black.

The DOXA Army echoes the aesthetic canons of the design of the era, adding a delicate touch of modernity and contemporary performance.
The case of the DOXA Army, 42.50 mm in diameter, is cut from a block of 316L stainless steel and fitted with sapphire crystal, the case and the movement it encloses withstand a pressure of 30 ATM (300 meters). The model features a unidirectional bronze bezel - it is the first time that DOXA uses bronze in its collections - with a hunter green ceramic insert or a steel insert with a black ceramic insert.

All dive-related indications feature a Super-LumiNova® luminescent coating which ensures optimum readability underwater. This collection is available with a "grain de riz" steel bracelet with folding clasp and exclusive "DOXA Fish" symbol, or with a FKM hunter green or black rubber strap. Comes with an additional NATO strap with camouflage pattern. The special case incorporates the original camouflage pattern of the Swiss army of the time.
