Muhle-Glashutte S.A.R. Rescue Timer: resistant in all conditions
Today we want to talk to you about the Muhle-Glashutte S.A.R. Rescue Timer. The functions and design of this watch were created in collaboration with the helmsmen of the marine rescuers, captains of the cruisers and of the rescue boats who are tasked with helping ships and people in distress.
This collaboration has given life to a robust watch, ready to withstand any challenge and any adversity: 42 mm steel case, water resistant to 100 bar and equipped with a 4 mm thick sapphire crystal.
It features a black dial with Super Luminova-coated indexes and hands. The watch is powered by a SW 200-1 automatic mechanical movement with a power reserve of 41 hours.
HISTORY
For over 150 years, the German Maritime Search and Rescue Society (DGzRS) has been ensuring safety in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Maritime rescuers perform important and often dangerous jobs, to which many people owe their lives.
Since its founding, the company, financed solely by donations, has rescued more than 85,000 people in distress at sea. The foundation was preceded by several serious shipwrecks on the North Sea coast, which led to a request for a German sea rescue organization.
Since 2002, the maritime rescuers and Mühle-Glashütte have started a collaboration that has resulted in the delivery of the first S.A.R. The Rescue-Timers to the officers of the DGzRS. The watch was developed together with them and was tested under the most adverse conditions to overcome all marine adversities.
Maritime rescuers are usually on duty in rough and turbulent seas. Although their cruisers and rescue boats have always been highly seaworthy, many watches used in the past have been damaged during operations. So, in March 2001, it was decided to jointly develop a watch that could withstand the toughest conditions.
