Description
Squale brings back an icon of the 1960s and 1970s as a permanent collection piece: the Reference 2001. Originally designed to accompany great freedivers in their explorations of the "Grand Bleu," today, it is worn by the indomitable spirits of sea explorers.
The Squale 2001 watch, a symbol of the '60s and '70s, returns to the continuous collection following the success of the Limited Edition released for Squale’s 65th anniversary in 2024. Made famous by figures like Jacques-Yves Cousteau, this model is ideal for diving and marine exploration enthusiasts.
While remaining faithful to the original, the new Reference 2001 incorporates modern materials and technologies. The 316L stainless steel case with hidden lugs retains its historical proportions, while the bezel now features a sapphire glass insert for enhanced durability. The sophisticated "push to release" system ensures safety and reliability, protecting the bezel from accidental impacts.
The dial showcases refined details, with polished steel indices coated in SuperLuminova C3 for optimal readability. A date window at 3 o’clock and the inscription “Saphir” at 6 o’clock highlight its protection up to 600 meters deep. The movement is now powered by the Sellita SW 200-1 Elaboré, a high-precision automatic caliber with a frequency of 28,800 A/h.
