With prohibition in the United States continuing until the end of 1933, the Caribbean island, located just 90 miles off the coast of Florida, offered liberal drinking laws and other delights.

Movie stars, famous politicians, and celebrities frequented the island’s casinos, while couples danced to swing music before heading out into the vibrant streets rich with Art Deco buildings.
