Celebrate 40 years of diving heritage with the Citizen Aqualand 40th Anniversary Limited Edition, a tribute to the world's first electronic dive watch with a depth sensor.
A Legacy of Innovation
In 1985, Citizen revolutionized the diving world by unveiling the "Aqualand," the first dive watch with a built-in depth sensor. This groundbreaking innovation transformed how divers approached underwater exploration. The Aqualand provided a precise, dynamically updated depth gauge and a dive timer, offering a comprehensive device for safe dives. Its ability to store dive data, including maximum depth and dive time, allowed for later review and consultation once back on the surface.
The Limited Edition
In 2025, Citizen commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Aqualand with a stunning limited edition model. This timepiece is a faithful homage to the original 1985 design, yet it boasts a modern and fresh appeal.
Key features of this limited edition model include:
Distinctive Design: The rose gold (PVD) crown at 4 o'clock, the three pushers, and the iconic bulb-shaped depth sensor at 9 o'clock replicate the original model's form, also in rose gold (PVD).
Premium Finish: The case features a brushed matte gray finish, complemented by golden accents that give it a special, celebratory look, befitting a 40th-anniversary model.
Advanced Functionality: In addition to displaying time, calendar, alarm, and chronograph functions, the digital display also enables depth measurement and dive time monitoring in dive mode.
Safety Features: The watch is equipped with an ascent rate alarm function that emits an audible warning when the ascent speed exceeds a certain limit, enhancing diver safety.
Eco-Friendly Strap: The strap is crafted from BENEBiOL™, a plant-based polyurethane. Citizen chose BENEBiOL for its hydrolysis resistance when exposed to moisture and its reduced environmental impact.
Commemorative Engraving: The 40th-anniversary case back showcases an engraving of a logo inspired by the iconic sensor shape, a unique design element created to celebrate this significant occasion.
